RESIDENTIAL STAR RATINGS FOR COMPLIANCE
House energy ratings through the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) uses computer simulations to assess the potential thermal comfort of Australian homes on a scale of zero to 10 stars.
The more stars, the less likely the occupants need cooling or heating to stay comfortable.
What is Rated?
A dwelling can be rated before or after it is built.
The rating depends on:
- the layout of the home
- the construction of its roof, walls, windows and floor
- the orientation of windows and shading to the sun’s path and local breezes
- how well these suit the local climate
What We Do
STARMAN provides energy efficiency ratings and documentation for new 6 Star energy ratings (for Tasmania) for residential dwellings, deemed-to-satisfy (DTS) energy efficiency documentation for residential dwellings contained in the National Construction Codes of Australia (NCC) Part 3.12.1 and energy efficiency analysis of existing residential dwellings.

About Us
Wayne Gorman (韦恩·戈曼) has been involved in the building and construction industry for over 35 years working on residential, commercial and industrial projects. Wayne started out as a crane driver with rigger & dogman tickets. He then moved into project management with industrial and commercial construction. A transition into residential brought about an opportunity to experiment with energy efficiency that had always been a strong interest.
Consulting Plus began with pre-purchase building inspections, but there was a need for some direction in energy efficiency for residential dwellings. Wayne became involved with software that provided star ratings for housing.
This then progressed to delivering training for First Rate 4 software. Wayne created the Energy & Environmental Rating Association (EERA) to provide energy assessors with a voice and contact point.
Wayne was approached by the Association of Building Sustainability Assessors (ABSA) to join the board and represent Tasmania in a National approach for energy efficiency and the role of assessors.
Training then expanded to take in Accurate software, with Wayne involved in the pilot role out of Accurate. All the software now matured and become second generation software and First Rate 5 came onto the market.
Inbetween all of this activity, energy efficiency in the commercial sector stated to gain momentum. Wayne become accredited as a National Australian Built Environment Rating Scheme (NABERS) assessor and then started delivering training for the NABERS scheme.
Starman Energy Ratings is the latest evolution in the building energy efficiency journey.
